I - WillNot - Get - Sick...!

<Delivered in the belabored tones of Will Shatner>

I first discovered that my throat was sore the day before yesterday. Given that I usually develop mild flu-like symptoms if I don't get enough water to drink, I proceeded to down a glass of water, and went to bed, considering the problem t0 be solved.

However, the next morning, I woke up, and discovered that not only did I have a sore throat (still), but now, I had a lingering headache, and a stuffy head to boot.

Red Alert! Action Stations!

My surefire recipe for getting rid of minor crappy headcolds...

  1. Drink water. Lots of water. Fill up a one liter bottle, and make sure that it's gone by the end of the day.

  2. Airborne, or any of those Vitamin-C tablets. Fill up a separate glass with water, dissolve the tablet, drink. Repeat.

  3. Orange Juice. Drink two 450 ml containers.

  4. Asprin. Take two, one in  the morning, one in the afternoon.

I've been following this recipe for ythe past two days now, and I feel a hell of a lot better. I'll be doing this  tomorrow so that I'll be in prime shape for my trip on Friday.

Finally!

I've been away for a while - went with Carrie to Utah to spend a week with in-laws.

Finally! The 1996 Nissan Sentra is out of my life, forever - and along with it, my last tenuous link to my ex-wife. Not that I have anything against her, and I certainly wish for her all the best - but it's time (way past, as a matter of fact) for me to cut my ties with my ex(cess wife) in Texas :)

Catharsis is as Catharsis does

Carrie and I took the opportunity this past weekend to get rid of a bunch of photos that we had collected over the years. On the whole, it was a pretty emotional experience - at one point in time, some of the people in the pictures had played a pretty pivotal role in helping to shape who we were as people at the time - which, in turn, has played a pivotal role in shaping who we are as individuals now. So how long are we as individuals obligated to acknowledge the role that person played in shaping our lives?

Perhaps the answer cannot always be communicated objectively, but I feel that once a person's actions and presence no longer influence your being, even to the most infetismal degree, you are no longer beholden to the active memory of that individual. This does not in any way mean "Out of sight, out of mind"; far from it, the memories of loved ones both alive and deceased influence our lives to a degree that cannot be described. But I do happen to think that holding onto the physical manifestations of memories of indivuduals who no longer influence your life - willingly or no - is excessive, especially when the chances of that person once again taking an active part in your life are slender.
